Parental Stress

Information on Parental Stress can be located in your textbook (Families and change: Coping with stressful events and transitions 5th ed. ) In Chapter 3.

PARENTAL STRESSORS

FINANCES, FAMILY TIES/RELATIONSHIPS, RELIGION, WORK OBLIGATIONS
Though many issues are related to the stress that parents feel in their roles, a few of them are more common than others. Finances ranks high on the list of biggest stressors across multiple issues but in the scope of parenting, it can be a big factor that influences other stressors such as location for school districts, housing availability and even the down to the shoes on a child's feet.

Family ties and other close relationships can also induce stress, especially if the family doesn't have solid coping mechanisms.

Work life vs home life is a point of contention to ensuring finances and also the bonds between the parent and child. Spending too much time at work gives more money to the household, but takes away precious time with children. It is also important to note that with more work, comes more need for child care.

Added pressure and stress is applied when a parent is sick or disabled, or if the child is sick or disabled. Many times, a parent needs outside help in order to cope with these kinds of issues.
