comparing slopes
PARALLEL OR PERPENDICULAR OR NEITHER

3.
Parallel
If two segments have the same slope, they are parallel
If their slope are not the same, the segments are not parallel

4.
Perpendicular
If the slopes of two segments are opposite reciprocals, they are perpendicular
This means the product of the slopes is -1
The segments form right angle(s)

5.
Neither
If the slopes are not equal and...
the slopes are not negative reciprocals...
then the lines intersect at angles but not right angles

6.
Comparing Lengths
When asked to compare lengths look for ratios
You are not looking at differences in lengths but...
rather at their proportion
For example, is one segment two times as long as another?

Dilations
dilations will produce parallel sides...
and proportional sides
