STRATO VOLCANOS

  • Most common type of volcano.
  • Have periodic explosive eruptions.
  • Ex. Mount Fuji, Mount St. Helens and Mount Vesuvius.

SIZE AND SHAPE

  • steep-sided, symmetrical cones of large dimension built of alternating layers.
  • Layers are made of lava flows, volcanic ash, cinders, and blocks.
  • They may rise as much as 8,000 feet above their bases.

ERUPTING

  • the eruptions when they occur are the most violent kind of volcanic eruptions
  • the gas and pressure build up so greatly over time.
  • Eruptions have the ability to change the worlds climate.

MAGMA

  • produced relatively slowly
  • tends to be thicker while holding more gas and pressure
