WHAT IS THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION, WHY DO CHRISTIANS TAKE PART IN IT

• The sacrament of confirmation builds on the sacraments of baptism, penance and holy communion completing the process of initiation into the catholic community

WHAT HAPPENS AT YOUR CONFIRMATION

• Your sponsor lays one hand on your shoulder and says your confirmation name. The bishop anoints you with oil then makes the sign of the cross on your forehead while saying your confirmation name and " be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit." You respond "Amen"

WHAT IS PENTECOST WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT TO CHRISTIANS AT THE TIME OF CONFIRMATION

• Pentecost is a Christian holy day that celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit 40 days after Easter. Pentecost was originally a Jewish holiday held 50 days after Passover.

WHAT SIGNS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WERE PRESENT AT THE PENTECOST

• The signs of the Holy Spirit that were present at Pentecost were fire, tongue and wind.

WHO IS THE HOLY TRINITY

• The holy trinity is made up of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit

GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

• Wisdom: is the gift of knowing the right choices to live a holy life. The gift of wisdom helps you to avoid the things that could lead you away from God.
• Understanding: is the gift of comprehension, the gift of understanding helps you to be tolerant and sympathetic of others. It helps you sense when someone is hurting or in need of compassion.
• Right judgement: the gift of right judgement helps you make choices to live as a faithful follower of Jesus
