Man Vs. Man
Definition- a problem between people or groups of people.
At school today I got in a fight with Doug, the guy who always beats me in everything.
Man vs. Self
Definition- the character fighting his inter thought and feelings.
When Mary got home from school she looked in the mirror and asked her self " why am I not prettier than popular girls.
Man vs. Society
Definition- a conflict or struggle between the character and society
Larry and his friends are at the courthouse protesting how society makes unfair laws.
Man vs. Nature
Definition- a conflict between something that is natural like weather or animals.
Annie and her family are white water rafting in the Amazon trying not to fall in the piranha infested water.
Man vs. Supernatural
Definition- A struggle between a characters and something that does not exist.
As I ran through the jungle I could hear the roar of evil ogre closing in on me.
Man vs. Technology
Definition- a problem between something that is man made.
Today in the office it was Ryan's turn to fix the coffee machine and the coffee machine sprayed his clothes completely and everyone made fun of him.
Cause and effect
Definition- when something happens (cause) that contributes to the outcome (effect).
Lucy is driving her car while texting her friend about a party on Saturday as she accidentally runs a red light she hits a truck and ends up getting paralyzed for life.
Propaganda
Definition- biased or misleading information that promotes a specific viewpoint.
As I walked through the mall I saw a poster that said "Belk has better prices than JC Penny and Macy combined."
Stereotyping
Definition- a widely held generalized opinion about a group of people
Germany made a stereotype that Jews were evil and ugly.
Allegory
Definition- a story, poem, or a picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political meaning.
In the forest a rabbit was being taken because he looked different and every day an other species of animal was being taken because of the way they looked.
Denotation
Definition- the strict definition of a word
Connotation
Definition- the emotional and imaginative association
Chronological
Definition- in the order of time
*chrono= time
In the morning I reserved a scholarship to Iowa state college. 4 years later I graduate college. And 1 year later I become a professor at Iowa state.

Definition- a metaphor carried throughout a piece of writing
