THE BOSTON MASSACRE

1770

Cause:
Colonists were still angry that soldiers were still living in their towns and cities.
The colonists still showed their hatred for them, by throwing things at them and calling them names.

Effect:
One of the soldiers guarding the Customs House yelled, "Don't fire",but one soldier miss heard, and fired. It ended up killing 5 and injuring more.

THE BOSTON TEA PARTY

1773

Cause:
Britain repealed all the taxes against the colonists, except the tea tax. The colonists only could buy tea from the British East India Company.

Effect:
The Parliament passed the Tea Act, which lowered the cost of tea. The colonists were still angry, so late at night some colonists intruded a ship to dump all the tea into the Boston Harbor.

THE INTOLERABLE ACTS

Cause:
After the Boston Tea Party the Parliament decided to punish the colonists by passing several harsh laws.

Effect:
Leaders from 12 of the colonies met in Philadelphia to discuss the problems and conflicts with Britian. They formed the First Continental Congress.
