PRESENTATION OUTLINE
It is important to include the artists name and the title of the album.
It is how the reader will identify the artist.
The advert is used to promote the artist and album, so they need to be recognisable features, so that people know what to look for when they make the decision to purchase this product.
It is important for the advert to contain information to help the reader purchase the album. .
A release date should be included, or if the album is already released this should be stated, in order for the reader to know when it is possible for them to purchase the product.
Other things to be included would be online ways of purchasing both digital and physical copies, for example the inclusion of the artists own website, or music selling websites like amazon.com or iTunes. Also it could be useful on information as to where you can go to a store and purchase a physical copy, for example it may feature a HMV logo.
Another thing that may or may not be included is reviews of the album. These are important as it gives the audience good faith that the album they would purchase would be worth their money.
People may look for reviews from sites or magazines that they frequently read or use, because that would give them an idea as to what it’s all about. For example if somebody who liked rock music saw a good rating by Kerrang! Magazine, they would assume that it would be of interest to them.
Only good reviews would be included, in order to not put down their product, and may be written in comments or in the form of a star rating.
Imagery is one of the most important parts of a magazine advert for a digipak. The image will often be of the artist, if not it would be of the digipak itself.
This is done to promote the artist and their brand identity, and give the audience something to recognise and relate to. Also it adds to whether an advert is aesthetically pleasing to someone, consequentially causing them to take more interest in it.
A key part of a magazine advert would be the mention of already released and well known singles from this album.
This gives the audience an identifying factor when they are deciding whether to purchase the album.
The likelihood is if they have heard of and like the single or singles released from the album they will consider purchasing it.
Another convention of a magazine advert is to have addresses for websites and social media. Including the artists own website is important as well as their social media profile names.
This creates synergy between the print based promotions they are doing and their online promotions, because online promotions tend to reach a much wider range of people than print based.
Depending on the target audience, websites are key, for example if you are aiming to a young demographic they spend a lot of their time online so it would be easy for them to include this artist in their daily life.
There should also be some suggestion of the record label that they are signed under, to give them another identifier and inform people where to find their music.
If the person is new to the specific artists knowing the record label might help them establish what kind of artist they are, if they know other artists from that label.
