young, energetic, keen to have job/volunteer
Have to be super flexible and be prepared to provide lots of support and training.
Start student leaders off in low key activities and always under the direction of experienced instructors
Most important training for development for student leaders is hands on behaviour management role modelling
Always have person of rapport checking in
Choose leaders who are versatile as well as leaders who have passion and skill in specific areas:
we have 3 highly decorated dance students, 2 taekwondo enthusiasts, drama expertise and cultural connections as well as leaders who excel in sports and visual arts
look for a range of personalities
extroverts and introverts ... our kids respond to different personalities

Budget for identifying staff shirts ... we did this the first year and it worked well
