CURLINGIN IN THE PAST:

  • THE CURLING IN THE PAST WAS PLAYED ON THE STREET WITH ICE AND WITH BROOMS TO SWEEP THE HOUSE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE AS US NEW MODALITIES AS NOW

CURLING NOW

  • NOW THE IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN RAISED AND YOU CAN PLAY MUCH BETTER THAN BEFORE THE BROOMS HAVE BEEN CHANGED BY CLUBS WITH A FLAT BASE TO MOVE THE BALL AND NOW PLAYING IN INDOOR BEFORE PLAYING ON THE STREET
  • ONE THING THAT HAS NEVER CHANGED IS THAT IT IS PLAYED IN A TEAM OF TRHEE PERSONS
Good at speed typing, tuba playing, or Candy Crush? Here's where you can show your stuff.

The stones

  • Each team has 8 stones.
  • They weigh 20Kg, and at the top have a plastic handle that serves to grab them during the launch
  • They are manufactured only in Scotland.
  • The approximate price of a set of 16 stones is around € 6,000
  • so they should receive great attention.

The Curling track

  • It is 42 meters long and 5 meters wide
  • Two targets called houses, in each one of its ends of 1.83 meters of radio and a series of marks:
  • HACK: is the place where you have to position yourself for the launch, it is located on the "hack line" or hack line.
  • BACK LINE: is the line that defines the track, if a stone completely exceeds it, it will be considered out of play.
  • TEE: is the center of the target and is the main objective of the game. It is crossed by a line called "Tee Line".
  • HOG LINE: is a line located about 10 meters from the hack, before which, you have to release the stone during the launch. If it is exceeded, the stone is canceled.

The team:

  • It is the most important of all. Having a compensated, coordinated and complete team is the most important thing to have a couple of good individual players. Each player has to know their responsibilities well and try to comply with them at 101% in each release.

Each team consists of 4 players:

  • The first or "lead": is responsible for throwing the first two stones, and sweep the rest of the stones of their peers. He is the main person in charge of the chronometer and traditionally is responsible for keeping the team coordinated and united.
  • The second or "second": throws the third and short stone, will sweep the stones of the first and third played, as well as time them.
  • The third or "vice skip": throws the fifth and sixth stones, sweeps the first two players, will mark the play to the skip and will collaborate with him in the design of the throwing strategy.
  • The fourth or "skip": is the captain of the team, is located in the house during the pitches of his teammates to indicate the play, throws the last two stones and is the one who has the final say in everything that have to do with the game strategy on the team.
It's always good to close with where people can connect with you. You can also include a link to a website here in the Notes.

THE SWEEP:

  • Es una parte fundamental del Curling. Sirve para aumentar o disminuair la velocidad de la piedra mientras desliza por el hielo, y puede influir determinantemente tanto en su direccionamiento como en su posición final.
  • You can sweep the entire course of the stone, and the rival team can do it when the stone exceeds the Tee Line of the house.
  • The players who sweep, are those who evaluate the speed of the stone after throwing and decide if it is necessary to sweep or not so that the stone reaches the final position, but they must be attentive to the skip, who is the one who sees the line that carries the stone and may require that you bar or stop sweeping to maintain or modify it.

The game:

  • The objective is to throw the stones at the house with the aim of leaving them closer to the center than your rival.
  • Whoever loses will be drawn first, whoever loses chooses the color of the stone they want.
  • The first player of the team that plays first throws, throws and then the "lead" of the rival team.
  • the skip is indicating by gestures how he wants the player he has to shoot to throw the stone. It will also tell you how hard to throw.
  • The sweepers, sweep the stone as they see it unless the skip says otherwise.
  • The rival skip can sweep the thrown stone when above the "Tee line" line.
  • The winning team will take one point for each stone that is closest to the Tee
  • When the launches of each team are finished, a new end will start in the opposite direction, until totaling 8 ends or 2 hours of play. In case of a tie, an "extra-end" will be played.
