Queen's Park - Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
During this guided tour we were able to experience an incredible learning activity because we visited the parliament in action. At the same time we get to know the place, the architecture’s history of the building and how the laws of Canada are made. In the hallways the guide tour explained us how the government of Canada is and how it is dived. Also we have activities that helped us to understand it better, like we pretend to be on session in order to understand it better when we enter to see it in action.

First Class (Global Business):
During this class we start with the introduction of the subject, as the same we start with the first topic of Global Business. The importance of trading, the absolute and comparative advantage, the measurement of trade, and the different opportunities in international business. As well, the teachers explained us how we will be graded and what we have to do for the final project, the Portafolio.

We arrive there and we take a picture as a group in the entrance. After that, we were divided in our room groups in order to answer an activity that we had to complete at the end of the tour. This museum is dedicated to the history of ice hockey and obviously a hall of fame by being home of the Stanley cup and by having an extraordinary collection of artifacts. It has multiple areas with exhibits about players, teams and the National League trophies. All this having multiple sponsors like Scotiabank and Toyota. This helped us to complete the task and understand better the form of work that the Hockey Hall of Fame manage.

At the end of class a sympathetic girl came to visit us. She was there to give us a leadership workshop through drums. Where we have to find our rhythm as the same follow the one of others. Also, we had the chance to experiment with other music instruments like with the maracas. All this in order to explore improvisational music making, specially with the West African hand drumming techniques.

December fifth, our third day was amazing. We did tree main activities and we learn something of each one.
Firstly we had a conference which was lead by Ramón García, a mexican man who is working in Canada on the business Industry. He explained us why the canadian society function and we thought over about what do mexicans should change. We must have a plan and set a goal because we have everything to explode our potential.

We wake up very early in the morning in order to drive to Niagara, Ontario where the famous Niagara Falls are located. We went out to the bus and the teachers gave us a 30 minutes free time to take plenty of photos. We learn that it has never happened that they freeze in a complete way. Even though the climate is very cold as that day.

After the free time we went to check-in in the hotel. We had in the hotel our first class with Diana. The topic of this class was about Finances, in this class we learn about money, how we used money, what was the principal characteristics of it and all the type of things we can do with it. At the end of the class, we do an activity and then we have free time before the bus came for everybody so we decided to play with snow and have fun outside the hotel.

We have a fabulous dinner at the top of the Skylon Tower with a view of 360 degrees. It was an excellent experience because we had the chance to see the Niagara Fall. As the same we had one of the best dinners with an incredible landscape. The sight of the whole town.

Diefenbunker: In our trip to Ottawa we made a stop in Carp, Ontario. Place where the famous Diefenbunker is located. Nowadays is known as Canada’s Cold War Museum and one of the most visited sites in relation with the Cold War. On the past was an underground nuclear bunker built in secrecy. During this tour we had the opportunity to have a visit on government rooms, living quarters and cytographafic areas. Some examples were the Prime Minister’s room, the War Cabinet room, the Medical Centre and the Radio Station.

Parliament Hill: We enjoy a wonderful walking tour on the Parliament Hill. It is also known as the “The Hill” and it is located in the downtown Ottawa near the Ottawa River. Again we were divided into two groups where we have to pass an exhaustive security. In this tour we had the chance to learn about the building itself since it is a Gothic Revival and has an architectural elements of national symbolic importance. They explained us about the Prime Minister, his duties and the chamber where big decisions are taken. We learn a lot about their history, how the country is divided and their work for the wealth of their people.

Fifth Class (Quiz):For this session of class we returned to the hotel. This class was based itself on answering the quiz, which included questions related to the topics previously seen. It was a little bit tricky but fortunately it was multiple choice. Equally in the spare time we could work in the portfolio and celebrate the birthday of one of our classmates.

That night our dinner took place on the Meule et Croque. A swiss fondue restaurant where we have a new experience of meal. The dynamic of the restaurant was that we cook our food.

Montreal:

The Royal Canadian Mint is placed on the central Ottawa and nowadays is used for the production of the hand-crafted collector and commemorative coins, medals and medallions. On this tour we learned about the Mint’s gold refining and advanced engineering operations. They create cool coin designs either for circulation or commemorative circulation.

We had the opportunity to see the production in action even though it was on a weekend day and the big machinery that are used. This machines are specifically made for this purpose and to save money and time. We learned also the amount of coins that are made on a week, which is the largest production in the world. In the exhibition of the coins there was a really big piece of gold.

Notre-Dame de Basílica:
We arrive to the Notre-Dame Basílica after lunch where a tour guide took us inside. She sat us in the benches to explained us more about the Church. She explained us about the history of the building, it’s architecture, the enormous organ and the events they do; which take place in the small chapel. She explained us about the windows and why the location of them. The colors that were used for its decoration and the purpose it was created.

Olympic Park:
We had the chance to visited the Olympic Park where it was home to many venues from the games of 1976 Summer. To go to highest part and have a wonderful sight of it we had to go up in the Cable Car. They explained us that it is known as the “Big O” but not only because of its figure but also because of the massive cost. But at least is the largest by seating capacity in Canada and is hope to be use on the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Sugar Shack:
Besides having an incredible dinner at Sugar Shack, also we had the opportunity to have a small guide where they explained us the making of the Maple-Syrup process. It is the only one that continues making it handcrafted. Even Though they have to wait for a longer period and the specific season they preferred to continue the tradition and offer one of the greatest qualities.

MONTREAL

EIGHTH DAY

Radio Canada: We had an extraordinary tour guide on the famous Radio Canada. On this experience we had to be separated into 2 groups and always keep on one side of the hallway since there are a lot of workers, and in a hurry. We learned about the sets, that maybe ones take a long period of planification but can be constructed or destroyed in hours and the high number of people that work to create all that. Since the productor to the ones in charge of the audio. We get to know one of the largest rooms used for the news and the different radio stations. Also how the live news are filmed and how the reportes are on the back.

Ice Hotel:
For this, we arrived to the amazing Valcartier Resort Village, where we not only spend an incredible night but also had the chance to be on the behind scenes of the Ice Hotel that will be open on January, where the really cold climate is present. This hotel already has a time being constructed and every year has a different theme. For example, last year the theme was of Circus. We learned that for its construction it need at least 7 weeks prior and that the ice that is used is nades from the water of the river.

Class #6 (Finanzas):
On this session we have our second class with Diana in one of the conference rooms of the hotel. We learned about accounting and financial statements. We saw that the definitions to have clearer the subject and also we saw the activos and pasivos. We saw the administrative way of some companies and it depends on them to check their finances and how it will be.

QUEBEC:

NINTH DAY

Huron-Wendat Village:
We had the chance to visit the Huron Wendat Village. It was an incredible experience besides the cold weather because we learn about their history, their culture and their lifestyles of the past and today. We learn how the used to live in big type of a barn, not only a family but plenty. As the same, how the women were the ones to decide who to marry, how they used to cook their food and the different doctors they have. Of today, we learn they have their own school where they teach their dialect and that they don’t pay taxes.

QUEBEC:

10TH DAY

Musee du Fort:
On the Musee du Fort, which is located on the Old Quebec, we learned about Quebec’s City military history with an spectacular sound and light show on a model. We had to pay a lot attention, because besides being very interesting, at the end we had a small quiz and the winner gain prices. We learned about the characters that tried to take Quebec and the ones who protected it, and their military strategies. We saw a lot of victories and big failures and how always the city fought back.

Chateau Frontenac:
We had a tour over the famous Chateau Frontenac. An emblematic building of the city. We learn about the famous people who collaborated on its construction in some way, of big historical events that took place there and about its prestigious architecture. That even the years are going through the hotel keeps its essence and their innovations don’t affect them.

NEW YORK:

ELEVENTH DAY

Wall Street: :Arriving to NY we went in a tour through the Financial District. We walked some blocks of the Wall Street and had the chance to see the Federal Hall National Memorial. During this we were explained about the history of the name of Wall Street, we explored the 9/11 Memorial and hear the sad story of it, how did the tragic happened 17 years ago, how people in New York reacted and what happened with people that was in the building, was very sad for us to hear about everything that happened that day.

Staten Island:
We took a public ferry from the Staten Island for an up-close view of the Statue Liberty and the New York Harbour. As the same, at the end we went back to Manhattan.

12TH DAY

United Nations:
We had a tour through the United Nations Headquarters that are near the East’s River as a symbol of peace and hope between Nations. After the Second World War was ended, in 1945 the UN was created in San Francisco but decided the main offices to be in NY. Nowadays 193 Members gather to discuss issues of peace, justice and and the wellbeing of the nation. We learn the history of it and how the human rights were created. We had the opportunity to enter to some assemblies and even saw one in action.

Macy’s Workshop:
On this Workshop we learn about the huge impact Macy’s store have around the world, the history of the store and their marketing strategies. A Macy’s worker named John gave us a very interesting and dynamic conference about Macy’s in general, he told us about the how the founder of the store Rowland Hussey Macy in his first they of opening the store he only won 11.60$, he also told us that Rowland was the first person to sold a 1.99$ price and to contract a woman with a big impact in the business.

It was very interesting to hear about they marketing strategies and how they win in the dates of November/ December most of the money that they will win in the year because they strategies are awesome, they have lots of discounts and many accessible things for the public.

MONTSE’S FAVORITE ACTIVITY

My favorite activity was the Hockey game in Ottawa. It was my favorite, even though I Never played or watched it, because it was something completely new and out of the ordinary. I love every part of it and I will definitely go to another one.

My favorite activity was the one of Macy’s in New York because I learned many business strategies and how to applied them in big companies, the tour guide gave us many information about how Macy’s applied it’s strategies in order to make the public really want to enter to the store and at list get out with one thing.
