Acadian Life in Nova Scotia
In 1628 famine and plague broke out, a religious war broke out between the Catholics and Protestants. The had relative freedom and independence from the French upper class. Then they were put on small ships across the Atlantic to the Caribbean's were most of them never reunited with there family and friends.
Le Grand Derangement
In 1755 the English governor called a meeting with the Acadians at a church, but there was waiting an army and they sent about 6,000 aborted ships and was shipped over.
Acadians in Louisiana
Spain wanted to make Louisiana's population go up he thought that Acadians would be perfect because they know how to farm and trap so they will fit into the culture. Spain would pay the Acadians to move to Louisiana about 10,000 moved from 1769-1785, they mostly settled along Bayou Teche.
Acadian influence on Modern Louisiana
Now we are influenced because we farm and use traps to hunt, talk like them,also cook like them. Also our last names come from them.
