American Revolutionary uniforms and arms

Continental army Guns

  • Most soldiers had supplied their own guns
  • Some soldiers  had American long rifle
  • The muskets were equipped with bayonets 
  • A Flintlock pistol was used as a secondary weapon
  • Cannons were highly effective

  • The Army wore red, white and blue 
  • They typical Uniform consisted of ...
  • A wool coat with a collar and cuffs
  • A hat with leather shoes
  • A cotton or linen a vest and breeches

British army Guns

  • All Red Coats used  "Brown Bess"
  • Bayonets were used to kill at close quarters
  • If deemed worth, some rode into battle on horseback
  • They used all three of Siege Cannons, Howizters and Morters

  • Different hats show their rank 
  • Other uniforms showed them as German mercinaries  
  • Soldiers carried a knapsack with Ammunition, food and a blanket

I am really surprised at how unprepared the Patriots were and how the won over the British. The Patriots didnt have good unifroms and how

I am really surprised at how unprepared the Patriots were and how the won over the British. The Patriots didn't have good uniforms or good guns, but the British were prepared and still lost. This makes me think differently about the American Revolutionary war.
