  • An eating disorder
  • Main cause is culture and pressure to be "beautiful"
  • Can be treated by medication or psycotherapy

SYMPTOMS

  • Self-forced throw up
  • Not eating/eating very little
  • Taking diet pills
  • Exercising more than needed
  • Counting calories

CAUSES

  • Culture: pressure to be "beautiful"
  • Family: If a family member has the disorder
  • Biology: Genes, hormones, chemicals in brain
  • Events: Traumatic/stressful events

THERAPY

  • Types of psycotherapy:
  • Talking to a therapist
  • Family/group therapy
  • Experimental therapy

MEDICATION

  • Anti-depressants
  • Anti-psychotics
  • Mood stabilizers
  • Prozac
