WHAT IS ANTIMATTER?

• Antimatter is the exact opposite of Matter. To be more specific the sub atomic particles of antimatter have properties opposite of normal matter. In other words the electrical charge of the particles are reversed.

How was Antimatter Made?

• Antimatter was believed to be crated long ago with the matter after the Big Bang.
• To understand Antimatter, you need to know about regular matter. Matter is made up of atoms, which atoms themselves are the basic units of elements like hydrogen,helium,or oxygen.

When was Antimatter first asserted?

• Antimatter was first asserted in 1928 by physicist Paul Dirac.
• He was later proven right in 1932 when Carl Anderson discovered Anti-electrons(positrons).

WHEN WERE ANTI HYDROGEN ATOMS(Antimatter)FIRST PRODUCED?

• Anti hydrogen atoms were first made at CERN in 1995.
• With millions more produced later on in 2002.
• It would also take billions of years to make enough Anti hydrogen atoms(Antimatter) to fill a balloon.

What is Antimatter made up of?

• Antimatter is made of Antiparticles.
• Antimatter is made when the electrical charge is reversed relative to matter , according to NASA. Anti-electrons(positrons) are like electrons but have a positive charge. Antiprotons, as the name implies,are protons with a negative charge.

Is Antimatter Deadly?

• Yes very deadly!
• Antimatter is so deadly you can literally make bombs out of it! 1gram of antimatter has twice as much energy as the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
• But it is so expensive that 1g of antimatter is approximately 65.75 trillion dollars according to NASA. And 100 billion dollars to make 1 milligram of antimatter.
• So To make 1 bomb it would require lots of money and lots of time.
• In fact producing Antimatter is very inefficient &a requires more energy to make than is returned.
• In fact only 0.0000000001of the energy it takes to make the Antimatter is given back.
• The Sun itself produces Antimatter and has Anti matter in it. In 2002 a solar flare produced enough Antimatter to power the entirety of the U.S for 2 days.It would take approximately 111.7 trillion years to create that much antimatter.

Why is our universe made of matter?

• Now when the Big Bang happened there should have been an equal amounts of matter and antimatter.
• Yet there is a lack of animated in the in the universe. Up till this day it is still a mystery.
