  • Gujarat is a state on the western coast of India with a coastline of 1,600 km – most of which lies on the Kathiawar peninsula – and a population of 60.4 million. It is the fifth-largest Indian state by area and the ninth-largest state by population. Capital: Gandhinagar

VALLABHBHAI PATEL (SARDAR PATEL)

  • Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel, popularly known as Sardar Patel, was an Indian politician. He served as the first Deputy Prime Minister of India. Born: 31 October 1875, Nadiad Died: 15 December 1950, Mumbai Full name: Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel Awards: Bharat Ratna Height: 182-metre tall

  • Gujarat is a flourishing state with cultural diversity. This vibrant state forms an integral part of the Indian culture. Gujarati culture is the blend of traditions, beliefs, customs, arts, values and modernization.

HISTORY

  • The history of Gujarat began with Stone Age settlements followed by Chalcolithic and Bronze Age settlements like Indus Valley Civilisation. Gujarat's coastal cities, chiefly Bharuch, served as ports and trading centers in the Nanda, Maurya, Satavahana and Gupta empires as well as Western Kshatrapas period.

FOOD

  • Gujarati cuisine is that of the state of Gujarat, in western India. The typical Gujarati thali consists of rotli, dal or kadhi, rice, and shaak (a dish made up of several different combinations of vegetables and spices, which may be either spicy or sweet).

DANCE FORMS

  • Folk dances of Gujarat include famousdance forms like Garba, Dandiya, Bhavai,Tippani, Hudo, among others. These danceforms are very energetic, colourful andsoulful and truly reflect the essence ofvibrant Gujarat.

CLOTHING

  • The traditional Gujarati dresses for men include kediyu or kurta on the top and dhoti or chorno at the bottom. Women in Gujarat wear sarees or chaniya choli. Recently, they have started wearing salwar kameez as well.

TEMPLES

  • Mata na madh is the temple of Gujarat so many people comes to visit and magical temple

  • Gujarat Tourism is one of the leading Tour Operator and Travel Agent.
  • Gujarat is well known for its rich culture. The folk arts of Gujarat form a major part of the culture of the state. It preserves the rich tradition of song,dance,drama as well.

  • Handicrafts include Bandhani,Patolas of Patan,Kutchhi work,Khadi,Bamboo craft,Block printing,Painting,Pottery,Pithora and many more Handicrafts.

FESTIVALS

  • Every year, Gujarat celebrates more than 200 festivals. The International Kite Festival is regarded as one of the biggest festivals celebrated. Months before the festival, homes in Gujarat begin to manufacture kites for the festival.
