Southwest region food

They continued to grow the plants until they produced larger,stronger, and better tasting corn.
They called corn Mother corn or Our life because it fed lots of people and kept them alive,Corn, beans,and squash were the three most important foods for native Americans. Lots of tribes called them the Three sisters.,Corn,beans, and squash were usually planted together in mounds called Milpas.,People ate little meat because animals were scarce.,Hunted deer,antelope,elk,and sometimes buffalo ,Pick wild grain,nuts,and berries ,Make corn bread.

totem poles with carvings of animal figures were on the outside of each home- this told family’s history,and social position,Cider homes are held on stilts ,Chief was the most important person in the house ,Totem poles on home

Southwest,Pueblo Indians use clay, stones and wood to build apartment communities called Pueblos,Stone and mud were used to build homes,Clay ( Adobe),Hogans/ wickiups

Southwest traditions Apache men rub fat from animals on their legs, they believe it will make them as strong and as fast as the animal.,They believed that the Buffalo was their spirit animal.,They all make their own tools ,They bless people with burning sage,They believe there are,good spirits and bad spirits
