Impetigo

IMPETIGO

  • Highly contagious skin infection that causes red sores and brown crusts on the face and is not genetic
  • Symptoms: red rashes, pimples, blisters, itching, pus, or swollen lymph nodes
  • Impetigo heal slowly and scars are rare. The cure rate is high, but the problem comes back in children
  • It may lead to infection in other parts of the body, kidney failure, permanent skin damage
  • Treatment of this skin disorder is antibacterials and is more common in children

Keloid

KELOID

  • Raised scars after an injury has healed
  • Lumpy or ridged, some people may experience darkening of skin
  • Treatment: Freezing, laser treatment, surgical removal, radiation and corticosteroid injections
  • Not harmful, may become flatter and less visible
  • Most keloids occurs sporadically but some are familial
