Location
The location of the Diamond shoals lighthouse is 35.1533 degrees N and 75.2967 degrees W. Or roughly 13 miles off shore from Cape Hatteras. Also located in the Atlantic Ocean.

History
The Diamond shoals lighthouse was erected { built } in 1996. The lighthouse had six lightships stationed at it during World War 1. However, the lighthouse was sunk by the German Submarine U104. In World War 2 the Diamond shoals lighthouse was replaced by a lighted buoy.

Features
One of Diamond shoals lighthouse features is that it has a legend. The legend is that a family and a captain died on a ship near the lighthouse and they sail on the boat looking for their lost graves.

Fun Facts
The 175-foot high tower warns ships of shallow sand bars. Diamond shoals is special because it is in the water. Most lighthouses are at the edge of the water {as a example Cape Hatteras}. Also the lighthouse is square and it is white and does not have a pattern.
