  • Industrialist-Charles Pillsburry
  • Joined a failing company within 5 years he turned it into the best flour industry in America for a period of time.

MACHINES

  • Middlings purifier- cleaned all of the black spots on the wheat.
  • Railroads-carried wheat around the country to be sold.

NATURAL RESOURES

  • Water-(of course) was needed for the wheat to grow.
  • Soil-was needed to grow the wheat.

INDUSTRIALIST

  • The industrialist of the lumber industry was Fredrick Weyerhaeuser ( I'll just call him Fred ). He was born in 1834 and died 1914 April 4th.
  • He left Germany when he was 18.
  • Invested into lumber industry.
  • Purchased 200,000 acres of land for his business to become successful.

MACHINES (ISH)

  • Axes were used to cut down trees.
  • Steam powered saws made cutting trees easier than normal saws.
  • Trains were used to move logs around.

NATURAL Resources

  • White pine was the main cutting tree back then and was cut down too much and when the whole white pine forest was cut down Fred and his crew moved on. They never replanted.
  • Water- was used to push the trees down steem and into there next destination.

  • Oliver Henry was the industrialist of the iron mining company. He put his money in to this business hoping to become rich.

MACHINES

  • Railroads were made for mine carts.
  • Mine carts were used to get from place to place inside the mines.
  • Head lamps were used for lighting up an area.
  • Pic axes and shovels were used for digging up iron pres in the ground.

NATURAL RESOURCES

  • Iron ores- were turned into iron which than profited anybody who worked there.
  • Iron range-is were all the iron was found.
