PRESENTATION OUTLINE
WILL ROSES STAY FRESH LONGER IF I ADD A DROP OF BLEACH?
If 10 ml of bleach is added to 500ml of water, then it will increase the length that the cut flowers stay fresh because it will kill all the germs and bacteria that would decrease the time the flower is fresh.
Independent variable
The bleach added to the water the flowers are in.
Dependent variable
Length flower is kept fresh
Experimental group
The flower that has the 10ml of bleach added to it.
Control group
Flowers that are in regular water
Control variables
Same type of flower, same length stem, same spot in room, same amount of water, same time data is recorded

As I conducted the experiment, I noticed that the experimental group did not last as long as the control group. I figured that because of the bleach, the flower would last longer than a normal flower. The part that really surprised me is the rate the flower was losing freshness. I thought that if the flower did not outlast the control group, they would not be that much time in between the time the flower died. I think that 10ml of bleach was to much for the flower to survive longer. I do not recall any variables that could have changed the outcome of the experiment.
If 10ml of bleach is added to 500ml of water, then it will increase the length the cut flower stays fresh because it will kill the germs and bacteria that will the time the cut flower is kept fresh. The data from the experiment does not support my hypothesis because the data showed that it did not increase, but instead it decreased the length the flower was fresh. For example, on day 3 the estimated percentage of the flower that was still fresh for the control group was 85 percent. The estimated percentage of the experimental group's freshness was 65 percent. If I were to do the experiment again, I would add less bleach and would have them in a better location like on a window sill or in front of glass doors so that there could be almost no way that one group would get more sun than the other.
