circulatory functions

transports nutrients & wastes

heart

pumps blood throughout body

blood

responsible for transportation , protection, & regulation

blood vessels

transportation of blood in & out of the heart

lymph

transports oxygen, food materials, hormones etc.

lymph nodes and vessels

protects body against microorganisms & harmful foreign particles

excretory Structures

kidneys, urinary bladder, ureters, urethra

excretory functions

removes wastes from blood; regulates concentrations of body fluids

kidneys

gets rid of toxins in body, cleans blood, regulates amount of fluid in body

urinary bladder

temporary storage of urine

ureters

transports urine from renal pelvis of the kidney to the bladder

urethra

carries urine from the body & in men transports semen as well

Circulatory & Excretory relationship

  • intersects with the urinary (renal) system
  • metabolic wastes are carried by circulatory system to kidney
  • all areas in excretory system need to be maintained by circulatory system
  • circulatory system brings blood through kidneys to filter toxins
  • toxins are then taken out by urinary system

circulatory illnesses

  • Angina
  • Hypertension
  • Coronary Artery Disease
  • Atherosclerosis
  • Congenital Heart Defect

excretory illnesses

  • Nephritis
  • Kidney Stones
  • Cystitis
  • Bladder Cancer
  • Urethral Stricture
