Cyberbullying

• Not regulated or acted upon by school
• Can negatively effect health, friends, and grades
• Doesn't have to be publicly said to hurt

Why They Do It

• Funny to other people
• They think they are cool enough to get away with it
• Parents aren't told because they are afraid to get their privileges taken away

Sexual Predators

• 1 in 7 kids have been sexually solicited online
• Found anywhere there is any sort of chat or forum
• Predators take on fake identities to gain trust

How to be Safe from Sexual Predators

• Have the parents check the website first
• Tell children not to post private information like addresses and photos
• Teach children about privacy settings
• Know when to leave an uncomfortable or weird conversation

Internet Pornography

• Children are going to search for it since it's there
• Software filters don't always work
• Children can delete history so find other ways to monitor

Damaged Reputations

• Children don't understand that what they post goes up forever
• Posting provocative pictures isn't ok
• Can be rejected from schools based on social media

Online Gaming

• Connects with strangers from around the world
• Open to anyone
• Allows hackers to gain information

Hackers

• Not very evident
• Don't need much to hack in
• Can steal a lot of information in a little amount of time

Internet Slang

• Not always easy to understand
• Not apparent
• Can be found on any site in plain view
• Children can be very secretive about it

Internet Safety Tips

• Never give out passwords
• Learn how to block or ban someone who is bullying
• Create a new account that the bullies don't know
• Do not respond to rude or harrassing emails
• Talk with children to educate them about the dangers
