EARTH'S INTERIOR LAYERS

MADDY, DANIELLE, KATE

CRUST

  • Under the ocean it is 4 miles deep
  • On flat land it is about 25 miles

WHAT WE USED FOR THE CRUST
Our models crust is Play-Doh because it is not a solid but it is also not a liquid and there are some parts of earth that are liquidso, like lakes and oceans and some parts are solids, like countries.

MANTLE

  • 1,800 miles deep
  • tempature 932 to 1,652 °F
  • Made up of magnesium and iron

WHAT WE USED FOR THE MANTLE
For the mantle we also used play-doh for this because play-doh is sort of like magma it isn't a liquid but it's not a totally a solid.

OUTER CORE

  • 1,429 miles thick
  • Range of 7,200- 9,000 degree's F
  • Made of iron and nickle

WHAT WE USED FOR THE INNER CORE
For the inner core we used play-doh because the inner core is liquid and play-doh is not a total solid.

INNER CORE

  • About 10,800 degree's F
  • Around 760 miles but studies don't know.
  • Made up of nickle/iron
  • it is solid because it is under pressure

WHAT WE USED FOR INNER CORE
We used a metal because the inner core is made up of nickel/ iron both metal we did not know what the inner core but we did know that solid metal is silver-ish black.
