Saint Marcellin Champagnat
Marcellin was born in France, 1789 during the French Revolution.
In 1816, Champagnat was ordained a priest.
In 1817, M.C. founded the Marist Brothers. He was inspired after visiting a dying boy who knew little about his faith.
In 1823, Marcellin went to visit a sick person, and got caught in a snowstorm. He prayed the Memorare, and was rescued by a passing farmer. Marcellin believed this to be because of Mary.
In 1840, Marcellin died, but to this day, the marist brothers continue his work.
In 1920, M.C. was declared venerable, the first step in becoming a saint.
Marcellin was declared blessed in 1955, the second step in becoming a saint.
The quote above is one of M.C.'s most famous quotes.
One of M.C.'s best qualities was his devotion to teaching children about God.
