  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Caused by haunting memories
  • Ex. Memories of war, death of
  • a loved one
  • No known medical cure besides therapy

MEMORY RECONSOLIDATION

  • The process of changing memories
  • After memories are formed and stored,
  • they can be retrieved
  • In other words, when a memory is activated
  • it is open to modification

HOW DOES THIS CURE PTSD?

Memory reconsolidation allows the removal or modification of unwanted memories.
This takes us one step closer to fully harnessing reconsolidation in psychotherapy
