DELTOID. Origin: anterior head: anterior surface of the lateral clavicle. Middle head: acromion process and spine of the scapula. Insertion: deltoid tuberosity of the humerus. Action: flexes the arm at the shoulder, medially rotates the arm, abducts the arm at the shoulder.
LATISSIMUS DORSI. Origin: lower 6T, all S and L vertebrae, superior iliac crest. Insertion: thoracodorsal. Action: shoulder extension, adduction, medial rotation.
PECTORALIS MAJOR. Origin: clavicle, sternum and upper ribs, tendon of the external oblique muscle. Insertion: greater tubercle. Action: shoulder flexion, lateral rotation, adduction.
BICEPS BRACHII. Origin (long head): supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula. Origin (short head): coracoid process of the scapula. Insertion (long head): radial tuberosity. Insertion (short head): bicipital aponeurosis to the fascia on the medial side of the forearm. Action (long head and short head): flex the arm at the shoulder.
TRICEPS BRACHII. Origin (long head and lateral head): infraglenoid tubercle of scapula. Origin (medial head): posterior shaft of the humerus, medial and distal to the spiral groove. Insertion (long head): posterior olecranon process of ulna. Insertion (lateral head): posterior surface of the olcranion process of the ulna. Insertion (medial head): posterior surface of the olecranon process of the ulna. Action (long head): extends the arm at the shoulder and the forearm at the elbow joint. Action(lateral head): extension of the arm at the shoulder, adduction of the arm at the shoulder, extension of the forearm at the elbow. Action(medial head): extension of the arm at the elbow.
FLEXOT DIGITORUM SUPERFICIALIS. Origin: medial epicondyle of the humerus. Insertion: each tendon splits and attaches to the sides of the middle phalanx of four fingers. Action: flexion of the fingers at the metacarpophalangeal and proximal interphalangeal joints, flexion of wrist, weak flexion of the elbow.
RECTUS FEMORIS. Origin: straight head: anterior inferior iliac spine, reflected head: ilium above acetabulum. Insertion: quadriceps tendon to patella, via ligamentum patellae into tubercle of tibia. Action: extends leg at knee, flexes thigh at hip.
ADDUCTOR MAGNUS. Origin: adductor portion: ischiopubic ramus. Hamstring portion: lower outer quadrant of posterior surface of ischia like tuberosity. Insertion p: adductor portion: lower gluteal line and linea aspera. Hamstring portion: adductor tubercle. Action: add.: adductor and medially rotates hip. Hamstring.:extends hip
GLUTEUS MAXIMUS. Origin: outer surface of ilium behind posterior gluteal line and posterior third of iliac crest lumbar fascia, lateral mass of sacrum, sacrotuberus ligament and coccyx. Insertion: deepest quarter into gluteal tuberosity of femur, remaining three quarters into iliotibial tract. Action: extends and laterally rotates hip. Maintains knee extended via iliotibial tract.
BICEPS FEMORIS. Origin (long head): upper inner quadrant of posterior surface of ischial tuberosity. Origin (short head): middle third of linea aspera, lateral supra condylar ridge of femur. Insertion (long and short head): primarily on fibulae head: also on lateral collateral ligament and lateral tibial condyle. Action (long and short head): flexes the knee, and also rotates the tibia laterally; long head also extends the hip joint.
TIBIALIS ANTERIOR. Origin: upper half of lateral shaft of tibia and interrosseous membrane. Insertion: inferomedial aspect of medial cuneiform and base of first metatarsal. Action: extends and inverts foot at the ankle. Holds up medial longitudinal arch of foot.
GASTROCNEMIUS. Origin: condyles of femur. Insertion: calcaneus by calcaneal tendon. Action: flexes leg, plantar flexes foot.
SOLEUS. Origin: posterior, proximal tibia and fibula. Insertion: receives the tendon of soleus on its deep surface to form the Achilles' tendon to attach to the middle of three facets on the posterior surface of the calcaneus. Action: plantarflexion of the foot at the ankle, assists with flexion of the calcaneus.
