Pancho Villa was born into a rather poor family. When he was 15, his father died, leaving him to support the family. Several years after, Villa shot a man who was assaulting his sister. This was his first known murder.

Villa fled to the mountains for 6 years after killing a man to protect his sister and became a bandit.

Rebellion

  • Villa joined Madero's uprising in 1910
  • He stepped out of line along the way and was imprisioned by Victoriano Huerto
  • He escaped and led another rebellion in 1912
Francisco Madero was the president of Mexico during this time. Pancho Villa was a major supporter of him. Madero had ordered Pancho not to lead any sort of rebellion for him because he was convinced he would lose. Going against his orders, Pancho and his army won and were the reason that Madero came into power.

Villa became governor of a new state called Chihuahua
