Performance Enhancers - any substance taken by athletes to improve their performance.
Also know as PEs.

The most abused performance enhancer is anabolic steroids.
The most common sport it is abused in is baseball. Other ones are football, weight lifting, sprinting, and cycling.

- Football- Dion Jordan
- Weight lifting- Matthias Steiner
- Sprinting- Ben Johnson
- Cycling- Lance Armstrong
Anabolic Steroids are also known as anabolic-androgenic steroids.
The main purpose of anabolic steroids are to increase muscle mass and strength. Steroids increase the protein in cells.
The anabolic effects from these steroids is to promote muscle mass and strength.
The androngenic effect from these steroids is responsible for the male traits such as facial hair and deeper voice.
MALE SYMPTOMS
- Developement of breasts
- Baldness
- Shrunken testicles
- Infertility
FEMALE SYMPTOMS
- Deeper voice
- Increased body hair
- Baldness
- Infrequent or absent period
