  • Plain Style- uncomplicated sentences and the use of every day words in texts.
  • This form of writing was hoping to stray away from elaboratedfigures of speech and imagery.
  • The Puritan lifestyle favored plain and simple ways, this was reflected in there writing.
  • The literature was a majority of journals, every so often books would be produced.

History
- Puritans also known as separatists wanted to purify the Church of England. Because of this idea they we're persecuted. They were looking for religious freedom. While the we're colonizing North America, other English colonies were starting up.
