exterior is three stories of arched entrances.
total of 80 around the Colosseum, supported by semicircle colums.
Each story had a different style of colums.
The best is that it seats more than 50,000 spectators to watch the shows.

The main purpose for this structure was violent gladiators fights
It was a theater for the people to watch these events.
Things watched: gladiator fights, combat, hunts, wild animal fights, etc.
Men mainly fought for the gladiator fights.
others that fought here were generally slaves, criminals & prisoners.

218 B.C.- hannibal leads the carthage army across the Alps to attack Rome
73 B.C- Spartacus leads the slaves in the uprising.
45 B.C- Julius Caesar is the first dictator of Rome.
