PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THINGS THAT COULD'VE GONE WRONG

  • I could've accidentally made the car go slightly faster on a surface.

ANALYSIS/CONCLUSION

  • There was only slightly more friction on the concrete than the wood floor but the surface with the least amount of friction was still the wood floor, and the car went 50cm/s on that surface.

WHAT I LEARNED

  • Friction changes between surfaces.
  • There will be more friction if the surface is bumpier.
  • There will be less speed if there is more friction.

DEPENDENT VARIABLES

SPEED, FRICTION

RESULTS

  • Speed on carpet:11cm/s
  • Speed on concrete:49cm/s
  • Speed on wood floor:50cm/s

ANALYSIS/CONCLUSION

  • I was correct in my hypothesis, the carpet had the most friction.
  • I know the carpet had the most friction because the toy car had the slowest speed there.

ON WHICH SURFACE IS THERE THE MOST FRICTION?

HYPOTHESIS

THERE WILL BE THE MOST FRICTION IN THE CARPET

STEPS

  • On wood floor, have a certain distance measured (5 feet)
  • Time how long it takes a toy car to go that distance
  • Calculate speed (s=d/t)
  • Repeat on concrete, then on carpet.
  • The one with the lowest speed is the one with the most friction.
