  • A line of hereditary rulers

EMPOROR

  • A ruler of an empire that has great power

WENDI

  • The emporor of Sui, china from 589-604 A.D.
  • United northern and southern China.
  • He restored the central government

GOLDEN AGE

  • A generation of liveliness and prosperity

WU ZHAO

  • The only woman in China to become an emporor, she ruled the Tamg dynasty from 690-705 A.D.

TANG TAIZONG

  • He ruled the Tang dynasty from 626-649

MOVABLE TYPE

  • The Chinese dynasties had made many inventions one of the most innovative being movable type. They created a printer that could type a whole page.

GENTRY

  • The gentry is an upper class of rich and powerful people. They attained this position by civil service and education.

SUI DYNASTY

  • The sui was a short lived dynasty that completed the grand canal.

HUANG HE

  • The first ruler of the Sui dyansty who started the building of the grand canal.

CHANG JIANG

  • The final ruler of the Sui dynasty who completed the grand canal.

EMPRESS

  • A female ruler of the empire.

BATTLE OF TALAS

  • The muslim army beat the Chinese in 751.

ARTISANS

  • Workers who earn their money through metal works and other jobs

HAN DYNASTY

  • The Han dynasty was a long lived dynasty that ended in 220 a.d.
