A BIOME WITH FOUR SEASONS

Description

  • Temperate Forests are located in the mid-latitude areas.
  • This means they are found between polar regions and the tropics.
  • The Temperate Forest regions are exposed to warm and cold air masses, which causes all four seasons.

LOCATION

  • Some Temperate Forests are located in the United States, Canada, Europe, parts of Russia, China, Japan, Spain, Alps and the Himalayas, and Africa.

CLIMATE

  • Average temperature- 60 degrees F during the day & during the night time below zero.
  • Temperate forests go through all four seasons.
  • Rainfall ranges from 40 inches to 150 inches per year.
  • Warm summers and short, cold winters.

Fauna

  • White tailed deer, bald eagle, beavers black&brown bears
  • Fox, frogs, raccoons, muskrats, porcupines, rabbits

Flora

  • All plants have to adapt to the different seasons. For example, in the fall the leaves fall off the trees.
  • Trees; Pine Fir, Hemlock, Spruce, and sequoias.
  • Flowers; Lady Fern, Spanish Bluebell, and the Common Primrose.
