KEY TERMS

  • Bradykinsia- slowness of motion
  • Ridigity- stiffnesss of joints
  • Afferent - neurons that send Info. to the CNS
  • Efferent- neurons that recive from cns and carry out action
  • Tremors- shaking

Sensory input – stimuli recieve and send message to the brain or spinal cord. Integration – interneurons in the brain or spinal cord process and interpret the messages from the sensory neurons, and relay the massage back to body parts. Motor output – Receive the message from interneuron and produce a response at a muscle or a gland

  • Sensory input – sensory or afferent neutron detect internal or external changes ( stimuli ) and send the message to the brain or spinal cord.
  • Motor output – motor or efferent neurons receive the message from interneuron and produce a response at the effector organ ( a muscle or a gland).

EXAMS

  • A neurological exam the functioning of one or more cranial nerves, hearing/speech, vision, balance, mental status, and changes in mood or behavior
  • Fluoroscopy x-ray that uses a continuous beam of radiation to produce continuous images of a body part in motion.
  • Radiography

DISEASES

  • Parkinsons
  • Mengitis
  • Stroke
  • Depressants
  • Alzheimers

PARKINSONS

  • Malfunction and death of neurons in the brain
  • Symptoms:
  • Tremors,bradykinsia,rigdity,imbalance coordination
  • Treatmeant:
  • There are medications to help but non can reverse the effects

MENEGITIS

  • Meningitis usually results from a viral infection, but the cause may also be a bacterial infection
  • Signs: SEVER HEADACHE,HIGH FEVER, STIFF NECK, VOMITTING,SEIZERS
  • Causes: hearing loss, seizers, memory ,brain damage
