CHAPTER 15

• Tom sneaks home and sees Aunt Polly, Mrs. Harper, Mary, and Sidney
• He eavesdrops and hears them crying over their supposed death
• He goes back to the island and they eat breakfast

CHAPTER 16

• They realize that they're homesick and want to go back home
• Tom reveals his "secret" to Huck and Joe before they leave
• Huck has tobacco and shares it with the others leading to all of them being sick

CHAPTER 17

• Tom, Huck, and Joe crash their own funeral
• Everyone is overjoyed about their return

CHAPTER 18

• Tom explains how the boys got back
• He ignores Becky and begins talking to Amy Lawrence leading to Becky crying

CHAPTER 19

• Aunt Polly gets mad at Tom for lying to her about coming back and making her look like a fool to Mrs. Harper
• She forgives him and sends him to school
• She finds the bark in Tom's jacket and realizes he told the truth

CHAPTER 20

• Tom apologizes to Becky, but she doesn't forgive him
• She goes through Mr. Dobbins' desk and finds an anatomy book and accidentally tears it
• Mr. Dobbins realizes the tear and questions his students, when he gets to Becky, Tom takes the blame
• From that, Tom wins back Becky

CHAPTER 21

• Summer vacation for Tom and his classmates comes closer and closer
• Mr. Dobbins give every student a passage to memorize and recite
• The boys prank him by lowering a cat that takes Mr. Dobbins wig off
• Summer vacation begins

CHAPTER 22

• Tom joins the Cadets of Temperance
• He begins to have relapses and gets sick with measles
• He begins to feel better and sees everyone reading scriptures
• Soon after, he sees Huck and Joe eating stolen melons
