Culture:
Farmers living near it always thought that the volcano was a sleeping giant. When it erupted, it meant it was angry at the people.

Eyjafjallajökull: a word meaning "mountain under a glacier". This was a volcano in Iceland that last erupted in April 2010. It was known for its large plume of ash and dust after it erupted.

ERUPTION IN 2010

This volcano is known for its impact. The impact it had was severe, causing an enormous disruption to air travel across Western and Northern Europe for six days.

During those days, large amounts of ash covered places in Northern Europe when it erupted. It caused 20 countries to close their airspace to commercial jet-traffic, and it affected 10 million travelers.
