Global Warming

global warming is if one-meter rise in sea level would threaten half of the world's coastal wetlands of international importance for their biodiversity

It's Happening

“Global warming isn't a prediction. It is happening.”
-James Hansen

Too Much Carbon Dioxide

Global warming is caused by too much C02 in the atmosphere C02 acts as a blanket, it traps the heat and warms the planet. We have so much CO2 because we burn fossil fuels, like coal, oil, and natural gas for energy. The carbon we put in the atmosphere today will determine not only our climate future but of future generations as well.

Humans are to Blame

Humans are causing global warming, since we are the only ones who can create C02, we are the only ones who can stop it. Because global warming is heating our planet, no one is benefiting from it. Especially the polar bears, and other animals in arctic areas.

Global Warming Is Creating Problems

Longer and more frequent heat waves, it can lead to heat exhaustion, heat strokes. This is happening due to global warming. Millions of trees have died in the rocky mountains. Over the past 15 years. Due to climate-driven insects, wildfires, and stress from heat and drought. As temperature gets higher, more rainfalls are the outcome. Which increase the risk of flooding events.

Many Places are Affected

Global warming impacts many places such as, Uganda, The Alps, Washington, D.C, Great Barrier Reef, and Darfur. In each of these places, global warming has impacted them by heating these areas drastically.

Our Earth is Impacted

All over the world global warming is impacting different places. It is heating locations to extreme heats, killing animals, trees, and even people. The extreme weather is causing many problems, for example it causes many plants to die, and that is a way that many people make money and provide a living for their family. Lastly it has caused many health risk like heat stroke causing people to be in life threatening situations.

“Will we write poems while our beloved Earth continues to turn and burn? Learn”
-Steve Piper.
This short poem means that we shouldn’t just be sitting here, watching our Earth slowly die. Everyone needs to be taking action. Things need to be done to fix this problem we have created.

"The Strongest Action..."

“the strongest action ever taken by an American president” President Obama has recently demonstrated strong leadership towards the global warming problem. He has created a solution called the Clean Power Plan. This plan would limit the amount of carbon pollution from power plants. Obama’s plan would cut carbon pollution by 30% in the next decade. With Obama's participation in the problem, global warming issues could almost be cut in half.

Solutions

Some solutions that people have suggested are Boosting energy efficiency, Greening transportation, Revving up renewable's, Phasing out fossil fuel electricity, Managing forests and agriculture, and Developing and deploying new low-carbon and zero-carbon technologies. If everyone just tried one of these solutions it would make a big difference.

What can you do?

You can do many things to prevent Global warming from getting worse, one thing that you can do is try and reduce your energy use, drive less so that there is not as much pollution, you can use a bike if the place you are going is in close proximity. Another thing that we can do is when buying new appliances try and find energy efficient appliances, the little things that you do can make a big difference.

We Need To Care

If nothing is done about global warming, vital parts of survival will be put in jeopardy. The rising climate would destabilize the water cycle. Some would experience an increases of droughts. While others would witness intense rainfall, and flooding. Also coral reefs would be put into danger. With the rising climate, water temperature would rise. Causing something called “coral bleaching” which means that coral losses color, and eventually dies. So many fish wouldn’t have homes, or protection. Global warming is happening, and it needs to be stopped. Otherwise we would experience these terrible effects of this problem.

Benifits

Even though there might seem like there is nothing good about global warming there are a few. One benefit is that since there is so much CO2 it helps the plants grow to be bigger and more robust because plants love CO2. It actually helps them grow as long as they are well taken care of.
