FAIR USE

  • Fair use guidelines are the basic rules of using images
  • It's the difference between borrowing and stealing
  • For example if I publish a photo and someone uses
  • That photo to make money without my consent it is plagiarism
  • If work is copyrighted and you use it you are subject to the law

COPYRIGHT

  • Copyright is used to claim your work as yours
  • If someone wants to use your work they have to go through you
  • There are different kinds of copyright
  • Creative Commons for example
  • Creative Commons lets you create your own specific license

  • Creative Commons is a website that lets you license your work
  • You can license it however you want
  • It can be used only in the U.S or only non commercial use
  • It can be shared only if kept the same or it can be remixed
  • There are many different ways for Creative Commons to be used

  • Posted photos would become instagram's property
  • Mass protest against it
  • Woman posted a photo on Instagram and news stations took
  • The photo and used it without her consent and she was entitled
  • To money
