SOMBRERO REEF

  • Lies inside SPA (sanctuary preservation area)
  • Named after famous lighthouse
  • Lies south-east of the coral reef
  • Depth range of 5-35 feet
  • One of the largest coral reefs
'The Arch' is a natural limestone formation in the coral reef. It is large enough to swim through and it's covered in hard and soft corals.

LOOE REEF

  • Named after HMS Looe lighthouse
  • Depth range from 5-70 feet
  • Also lies in a SPA
  • Deeper places might have dangerous currents
  • Research only reef

BOTH REEFS

  • Protected completely
  • No fishing
  • Named after lighthouses
  • No spear fishing
  • Spurs and groove reefs

  • Types of Fish
  • Parrot fish and surgeon fish on north sides
  • Barracudas and jacks on top of the reefs
  • Grunts, butterfly fish, and angel fish on reef crest
