The southern campaign

  • The continental victory at Saratoga in 1777 and the treaty with the French in 1778!
  • The British changed their strategy yet again in 1788!
  • Although the British were successful in most conventional battles, the fighting in the south
  • The loyalists were strongest in south and hoping to enlist the slaves in their causes an objective that seems incompatible

SAVANNAH, CHARLESTON BATTLES

  • Savannah battle-was a American Revolution war battle fought on December 29,1778 between local American patriot militia and continental army units. It was the second battle
  • Charleston battle-the battle of charleston was a military conflict between the kingdom if Great Britain and its thirteen colonies in the North America revolutionary war.

PARTISAN TROOPS AND GUERRILLA WARFARE

  • Guerrilla warfare- the strategy and tactics of guerrilla warfare tend to focus around use of a small,mobile force competing against a larger,more unvieloy one
  • Is a form of irregular warfare in which a small group of combatants such as armed civillans
  • Partisan troops- the initial concent of partisan warfare involved the use of troops raised from the local population in a war zone( or oin some cases regular forces.)
  • During world war ll, especially those active in Belarus,effectively harassed German troops and significantly hampered their operations in the region.

KING MOUNTAIN

  • Fought October 7th,1780, was an important American victory during the revolutionary war.the battle was the first major patriot victory to occur after the British Invasion of charleston,sc in May 1780.

COWPENS BATTLE

  • On October 14,1780 George Washington choice Nathaniel green to be commander of the southern department said of the continental forces.

GULIFORDS COURTHOSE BATTLES

  • The battle of gulifords court house was a fought on March 15,1781 at a site which is now in Greensboro the country seat of guliford county,North Carolina,during the American Revolutionary War.
