What is the corona?

• The outermost layer of the Sun is called the corona.

How did it get its name?

• It gets its name from the crown like appearance evident during a total solar eclipse

When can i see it?

• The corona is very thin and faint and therefore can only be seen from earth during a total solar eclipse

What do i use to see it?

• coronagraph telescope which simulates an eclipse by covering the bright solar disk

What the shape like?

• The shape of the corona is mostly determined by the magnetic field of the Sun

What does it do?

•  corona emits energy of many different wavelengths, long wavelength radio waves,  short wavelength X-rays
