COSTA RICA

THE DRY SEASON

  • The temperature is around 70 to 80 degrees in Costa Rica
  • The dry season is from November to April
  • This makes the vegetation less lush and lively looking
  • There has been some changes though because lately in the dry season there has been heavy rainfall

THE GREEN SEASON

  • This season has almost daily rains that are in the mid afternoon
  • These rains can last up to two to three hours
  • It is called the green season because everything looks green and lively
  • The months of September and October are considered the rainiest months

HISTORICAL LAND MARKS (CARTAGO RUINS)

  • Cartago was Costa Rica's first capital
  • It was home to the first spanish settlement in 1563
  • Cartago was founded by Juan Vasquez de coronado
  • Cartago remained Costa Rica's capital until 1823
  • When the first president was elected (Juan Fernandez) he decided to relocate

NATIONAL MUSEUM

  • The museum was a first a military barracks
  • The walls surrounding it still have some bullets lodged in them from the war
  • It became the site for a museum in 1950
  • The museum is organized by how things relate to each other in counterclockwise
  • The museum has many artifacts and ancient things from Costa Rica's past to look at

ACTIVITIES

  • There is zip lining, horseback riding, kayaking, rappelling and many other activities
  • You can go on nature tours and go through jungles and forests
  • Here are leisure tours as well like hot springs and just laying on the beach
  • There is cultural tours where people will teach you about the Costa Rican culture
  • There is also educational activities where you can learn spanish, how to surf and other things

FOOD

  • Rice and black beans are often served three times a day in Costa Rica
  • They also have a big reliance on fresh fruits and vegetables
  • The food is always nutritious and always made from scratch
  • The meals have a homecooked, comforting feel to them
  • Since they live in the tropics, exotic vegtables and fruits are very commonly served
