COSTA RICA

LOCATION

  • Costa Rica is North of Panama and South of Nicaragua.
  • It is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean.

CLIMATE

  • Costa Rica is located around the equator.
  • Because of this it is tropical year around.

CUISINE

  • Gallo pinto is a very common dish of rice and beans.
  • Boquitas are served with a variety of food and sauce.
  • A large assortment of fresh fruits.
  • Frescos are a beverage made of juice watered down and sweetened.

CUSTOMS

  • Men greet by shaking each other's hands and with eye contact.
  • Women may great women with a kiss on the cheek after the first meeting.
  • Men may great women with a handshake or kiss on the cheek.
  • It is taboo to put your feet on furniture.
  • It is rude to point with one finger. Using the entire hand is not.

FUN FACTS

  • Less than 1% are indigenous to Costa Rica.
  • There are 52 species of hummingbirds.
  • There are around 750,000 species of bug.

ARTIFACTS

  • The stone spheres are perfect spheres made from hard stone.
  • Jade Sculptures of Gods.

HISTORICAL SITES

  • The cartago ruins. From the 18th century were destroyed
  • twice by earth quakes.
  • Guayabo park with a religious mound cemetery.
  • The round spheres can be visited. Little is known of them.
  • Isla San Lucas is a prison made famous by a prisoners novel of it.

  • The novel is "The Isle of Lonely Men".
  • The National Museum was once a military barracks and fortress.
