SNAKE WEIGHTS/LENGTH

  • Adult cottonmouths normally reach a height of 3-4 feet.
  • Adults typically weigh 3-4 pounds.
  • The cottonmouth has slits for pupils.
  • The water moccasin has a white mouth.
  • It has a triangular shaped head.

COTTONMOUTH PATTERNS

  • A cottonmouth has a black tip of the tail.
  • They have banded patterns.
  • Adults have darker bands than younger snakes.
  • They have white mouths.

DIET

  • Fish
  • Release prey and hunt down after striking.
  • Mice/small rodents
  • Lizards
  • Small turtles

COTTONMOUTH POISON

  • Blood clots
  • Swelling
  • Bite can be fatal
  • Bite is dangerous

YOUNG

  • Have live young
  • Have up to 1-15
