COURT HIERARCHY

The Magistrate's Court
The Magistrate's Court is the first level of state courts.
There are a large sum of Magistrate's courts in Victoria.

the Magistrates court has the jurisdiction to hear minor indictable offenses and summary offenses.

COUNTY COURT

  • The county court is the third highest court in the Victorian Court Hierarchy.
  • It is located in the CBD
  • The county court had both civil and criminal jurisdiction.
  • It can hear all criminal cases except for murder and treason.
  • The jury system is used in the county court.

THE SECOND HIGHEST COURT IN THE VICTORIAN COURT HIERARCHY.

The supreme court is the highest state level court in the victorian court hierarchy. its located in the CBD.
