WHAT?
My topic is about the Corona Virus in Illinois. The issues/problems about this are that this disease is spreading and is causing deaths. Also, many and almost all events are getting canceled. For example, Democrats postponed a national convention in Milwaukee until August.

WHO?
The people that are involved/affected by this adversity is everyone that lives in Illinois. This is because citizens have to stay home. Also, people that work in hospitals have to treat people with the Corona Virus. Police officers also have to help keep people in their homes by patrolling the streets. To add on, the government has to keep this all under control. This event doesn’t benefit anyone, but it does harm patients over 60 since they might die from this virus.

WHERE?
This event first occurred in China. This adversity will probably spread to/impact more places even though it has already impacted many. (Including Illinois) So, yes, this is occurring in many places.

WHEN?
This topic is occurring right now and is ongoing. Action must be taken now to deal with this issue. That action is washing your hands!

HOW?
This problem is significant because it’s causing deaths around the world. This affects people involved because many businesses are loosing money and workers. Also, people are scared, dying, and some are loosing their jobs. This issue can help be resolved by people staying in their homes and washing their hands so the virus cant be spread, and doctors helping people that are sick.

ECONOMIC LENS
This relates to the economic lens because people are losing their jobs. This causes them to loose money. Also, most businesses are loosing workers and money because people cant leave their homes. For example, restaurants companies are loosing money because people cant go to their restaurants to buy food. (Unless you’re thinking of a restaurant has take out, but some people don’t order that either during this time.) Also, some restaurants are required to shut down.

CULTURAL ANTHROPOLOGY LENS
This adversity relates to the cultural anthropology lens because it’s changing peoples daily lives. For example. I have to do my school work at home instead of at Highcrest because Highcrest is shut down. This impacts my daily life because I would go to school every week day. This is the same with adults who go to work. There may be and exception with doctors though, because they have to help patients at the hospital. Also, many things are getting canceled so people cant have face to face interactions with other people that don’t live in their houses.

PERSONAL REFLECTION
My opinion about this topic is that it’s very sad. Many people are dying every day which is very unfortunate. Also, this event is interesting because no one REALLY knows who caused this whole pandemic to happen. There are many conspiracies, but no real answers.

CLAIM
I think this event havs a negative impact on society. This is because many people are dying, many events are getting canceled or postponed, and many businesses are loosing money/shutting down and their workers don’t have jobs.

COUNTER CLAIM
Somebody might have an opposite claim from mine because they might like staying home and spending time with their family. Other than that, I cant see why somebody would disagree with me because this event is very tragic.

CRITICAL THINKING QUESTIONS
If I could interview someone involved with this adversity, it would be somebody that works at a hospital that treats Corona Virus patients.
1. Is your job a lot harder after this pandemic of just slightly harder?
2. How many patients have you had and do have, that have had the Corona virus?

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1.Where did this disease first appear and why?
2. Why are most restaurants closing down and why are restaurants losing money?
