REASONS WHY I CHOSE THE COYOTE
The organism is local to Flower Mound and I have prior knowledge about the coyote
I chose to research the coyote because of my familiarity with the coyote.
I was interested in seeing how the coyote affects other organisms and humans.

INVERTEBRATES
An invertebrate is an animal that does not contain a backbone
The coyote however is a vertebrate because it contains a backbone and is a mammal.
Around 97% of organisms are invertebrates and 3% are vertebrates.

Kingdom- Animalia Phylum- Chordata
Class- Sarcopterygii Order- Carnivora
Family- Canidae (Dogs jackals)
Genus- Canis (Dogs Jackals and Wolves)
Species- Canis latrans

HABITAT
The Coyote can live is adapted to several habitats
They can flourish in Deserts, Grasslands, and Forests.
There have been many spotted in urban areas and populated neighborhoods

NICHE
The Coyotes Niche or role it serves in society is to be an adaptable top predator.
No matter which habitat a coyote is living in, the coyote finds itself at the top of the food chain.
Coyotes thrive best in forest and grassland areas.

BIOME
The coyote can be found and can adapt as well as survive in many different biomes.
Biomes in which coyotes are found in are desert, grassland, and deciduous forest

PREDATORS AND PREY
The main predators of the coyote are the mountain lion, Wolfe, and the grizzly bear.
Coyotes are carnivores and will also consume insects, fruits, berries,
The coyote will feed on deer, elk, rabbits, birds, fish, snakes, and many more organisms.

HUMMAN USES
In some cases, Coyotes can be tamed to be friendly and protect humans.
Although this does not happen very often, it's an effective use.
Coyote attacks on humans are very rare.
They can be prevented by various tactics and being educated about the coyote

STATUS
The coyote is not endangered or threatened.
It thrives in most societies and serves as a top predator.

INTERESTING FACTS
The coyote has a very well developed sense of smell.
This allows the to track down prey and avoid predators in the process

COMMUNICATION
Coyotes will use various noises to communicate a message across.
They will howl, squeal, and growl mostly at dusk or dawn.
They will sometimes respond to sirens fire whistles during any time of day

RUNNING
Wolves can run for around 40 miles per hour
They can also detect hunters and predators from miles away.

OTHER INTERESTING FACTS.
Coyotes use holes for sleeping and eventually giving birth to their young.
Coyotes will usually hunt in small groups of around 2 to 3.
