Chest Compressions for Adults

  • Locate the sternum
  • place one hand on top of the other
  • interlock fingers
  • lock you elbows with your weight
  • compress the victims chest at least 2 inches.

If the victim is unresponsive you need to make sure the airway is clear of any obstruction. The main obstruction is the tounge. If the airway is blocked you will have to open it.

To open the airway make sure the victim is on his or her back. Then gently tilt his head back and lift his chin.
