Creatine “dietary supplement creatine is an amino acid derivative that has been known to enhance strength and build muscle. It is often used by athletes for its effects on muscular endurance and strength.”

Working out for your health is a good hobby that can keep you in shape. Teenagers nowadays are starting to work out more. This is caused by the daily use of internet platforms like tiktok and Instagram which leads to body dysmorphia. Body dysmorphia is a mental health condition where a person spends a lot of time worrying about flaws in their appearance and this is where creatine comes in and teenagers are using it on a daily basis.

Creatine is a “naturally occurring element within the body and is obtained from diet, mostly animal products such as meat. If enough is not supplied through diet, the body synthesizes creatine from amino acids (arginine, glycine, and methionine)” (Mahuna, 2005). Your body naturally make about 1 gram of creatine per day.

According to a study in 2005 by: Jason Mahuna shows the use of creatine is safe to use for teenagers. Mahuna experimented with teenagers from the age of 15-17, he made workout plan for 4 weeks where he had two sets to groups one taking creatine and the other set without creatine. Both of groups performed the same set of exercises for a week. The results showed the increase in strength, increase muscle mass and loss in fat reduction. Similarly, an article which was published by Charlie Ottinger also shows that the use of creatine is safe “creatine supplementation is perfectly safe, even in the long term. For people with pre-existing liver or kidney problems, it’s probably a fantastic idea to speak with your physician before using any supplement, creatine included”

From this given information we can understand that the use of creatine by
teenagers is safe with supported study. You should talk to your health
inspector if you have any kind of kidney or a liver dysfunction in the past
before using creatine. Creatine will eventually give you some sort of results
as long as you stay consistent.
