What is a PSA?

  • Public Service Announcements (PSA) are designed to inform and educate rather than sell a product or service.

To change public opinion and raise awareness for a social issue.

Goals of a PSA

  • Educate.
  • Provoke a feeling and reaction.
  • Call to action.

Example of Topics

  • Safe Sex
  • Texting and Driving
  • Smoking
  • Drug Addiction
  • Homelessness

PSAs Aren’t...

  • Advertising.
  • Commercial by nature.
  • Guaranteed to air.

PSAs can be found everywhere traditional ads are; TV, radio, outdoor, online, direct mail, print.
